EARTHQUAKE IN ANCHORAGE, ALASKA HITS BY 7.0 AND 5.7

Earthquake hits Alaska, with a magnitude of 7.0




A  Consecutive earthquakes measuring 7.0 and 5.7 have shattered highways and rocked buildings in Anchorage, on Friday morning crumbled roads and splintered highways and causing people to run from buildings and prompted a tsunami warning that was later canceled.


The quake was centred to about 11 km north of Anchorage, the largest city in the state, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake hit about 8 miles north of Anchorage, the most popular city in the state, at 8:30 AM, according to the U.S.G.S.


The Anchorage Police Department state that there is major infrastructure damage including homes and buildings. Many roads and bridges are closed too.


There were no reports of deaths. The USGS estimated there was a low probability of fatalities because most people in the region live in structures that can withstand an earthquake.
 Most of the damage occurred in transportation infrastructure reported.
